Once the mansion of the Dekigalla family, Character continues since 1500 to be part of the family’s legacy with its present owner being a descendant of the original inhabitants. The transformation of the house began in 1934, when “Vulcan Hotel” first opened its doors.
The Story
Santorini’s First Hotel
“Vulcan Hotel” and its restaurant would welcome early travellers who arrived on the then-unknown island until the virulent earthquake of 1956 that ceased its operation. In 2012 new life was given to the building with the opening of Character. The rest is history!
